The tag line of our LCF Global blog is: “The people of Littlerock Community Fellowship serving Christ around the world.”
So which “people” from “Littlerock Community Fellowship” will be serving Christ in Ensenada, Mexico beginning on Sunday, July 30th? Well, it is my pleasure to introduce to you the nine members of our 2017 Mexico Team!
Kathy Brady is a school teacher by day and a superhero by night. This is her third time participating in a short-term missions trip, but her first time with LCF. She will be accompanied on this trip by her son (Brady) and is the most excited about meeting Christians from different backgrounds and cultures. Her biggest prayer request is that she would have wisdom to know when to speak and know when to be quiet and that she wouldn’t be an “over-bearing mother” to her son!
Gregory Ginn, age 33, thanks to his wife and two daughters, is an expert in all things relating to Disney princesses. He has had the privilege of participating in several short-term missions trip including a trip to Ensenada last year and is most excited about see how God will work in the heart of every single person on this team. He is also excited to see how God will use the individuals on this team to spread a passion for missions among their families and LCF as a whole when they return home. His biggest prayer request is that God would soften everyone’s heart to be challenged, stretched, and changed by His Word during this trip.
Carli Kross, age 24, is traveling as a personal body guard and marathon trainer…for the entire team. While she has done quite a bit of traveling before, this is her first time participating in a short-term missions trip and that fact alone is what excites her most about this trip. (That and going to the beach… every …single …day!) Her biggest prayer request is that she would have the right mindset and perspective as to why we are in Mexico and what God has called us to do.
Brady Moen is 13 years old and claims that he won’t wake up early for anyone or anything…except to go fishing. (We plan to test that claim quite a bit on our trip!) This is his first time participating in a short-term missions trip. The things that excite him most about this trip are learning how to build a house and being able to travel to a different country. His biggest prayer request is that everyone would remain healthy on the trip and “that there won’t be too many bugs!”
22-year-old Taylor Pfeil, is one of the veterans on our team having gone to Ensenada last year. He is also a world record holder for most fish tacos eaten in under an hour. (A record he intends to break this year!) He is most excited to meet the family whose home we will be building and to see their reaction when they see the finished product. He is also excited to get to know and fellowship with the team and eat amazingly authentic Mexican tacos. His biggest prayer request is that God would open all of our hearts and minds to the lessons He has for us and that God would grow us all spiritually during and through this trip.
Twelve-year-old Elias Rudolph is fast. Like really, really fast. (He’s modest about it, but there have been some rumors floating around our Mexico team meetings that he once beat Lightning McQueen in a race.) This is Elias’ first time participating in a short-term missions trip as well and he is most excited about exploring a new culture and meeting Christians from a culture different than his own. His biggest prayer request is that God would be able to use him to help finish building the house.
Kayla Schwartz, age 15, will probably one day be featured on a Wheaties box for winning a gold medal in volleyball. But for now, she is part of our Mexico team and is excited about going on her first short-term missions trip. She is most excited about meeting all sorts of different people from different backgrounds and cultures. Her biggest prayer request is that, if given the opportunity, she might have the right words to share with someone the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She is also recovering from a recent surgery on her ACL and would appreciate prayers for healing and safety during our trip.
Dan Schwartz is the mature and responsible team chaperon who will make sure everyone stays on task. He is also part of a famed babershop quintet and has been known to break out into choral music in his sleep. This is Dan’s very first short-term missions trip and he is most excited about spending time with his daughter (Kayla) and watching her serve God in this special way. He is also looking forward to getting to know the other members of the team and is excitedly curious about what the construction process in Mexico will look like (compared to the U.S.). His biggest prayer request is that God would use him to his fullest potential and that God would prepare his heart to be open and available for anything that He has in store.
Famed saxophonist John Coltrane once called Kyle Summers, age 19, “The best saxophone player on the planet.” This is Kyle’s second short-term missions trip with LCF and first time going to Mexico. Like several others, he is most excited about experiencing Christianity in a different context and seeing what life is like for those living in Ensenada. His biggest prayer request is that God would grant him clarity of mind and the ability to focus on what is truly important during the trip.
